A license is a formal permission that grants the right to use a particular software product (module) under certain conditions. In the case of Wordize SDK, each individual license removes certain restrictions which may relate to both functionality and support for certain file formats.

For example, when using the evaluation version, you may encounter certain limitations, such as watermarks on output documents or a limit on the number of paragraphs that can be processed. By purchasing the appropriate licenses, you remove these limitations and gain access to a specific set of features and/or support for additional file formats.

☝️ Wordize uses a licensing model that includes both a license and a subscription.

Wordize offers 2 types of licenses:

  • Trial (Temporary) License. The Trial license grants you the opportunity to fully explore and evaluate the features and capabilities of the Wordize SDK without any restrictions for a period of 30 days. This license is designed to help you thoroughly test the software and determine its suitability for your specific use case. During the trial period, you’ll have complete access to all modules and functionality, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation experience. Once the trial period expires, you will need to purchase Developer OEM licenses to continue using the SDK without limitations. Any modules for which a Developer OEM license has been purchased will remain fully functional. However, modules without an active Developer OEM license will automatically switch to evaluation mode, which introduces certain restrictions that limit their usability.

  • Developer OEM License. The Developer OEM license is a commercial licensing model designed for developers and organizations integrating Wordize APIs into their applications for distribution.
    Key Features:

    • Single Developer Usage. The license is tailored for one developer to create an unlimited number of end-user software applications. This means that a single developer can use the Wordize SDK in their development process.
    • Unlimited Distribution. The Developer OEM license allows developers to distribute their applications without incurring additional licensing fees for each deployment. This feature is especially useful for developers who plan to sell their software solutions to multiple end users.
    • Unlimited Physical Locations. Applications created under this license can be used at an unlimited number of physical locations, both within and outside the organization. This provides great flexibility in terms of where the developed software can be deployed and used.
    • Integration Capability. Developers can embed Wordize SDK into their applications, allowing for seamless integration of the SDK features into custom software solutions.
For information on obtaining this type of license, see the document ‘Temporary License’.
The Developer OEM license grants rights to:
Embed document processing features into your software.
Build and distribute unlimited applications.
Offer document processing features through cloud platforms if integrated as part of your service.

The Developer OEM license imposes a number of restrictions to ensure proper use of Wordize SDK and to protect the intellectual property. The following is an explanation of some of the major prohibited activities under the Developer OEM license:

Creating derivative works. The license expressly prohibits the creation of derivative works, such as APIs (application programming interfaces) or SDKs (software developer kits), based on Wordize SDK. This means that you can’t use the SDK as a basis for developing new tools, frameworks, or software that extends or modifies its functionality. For example, creating a custom API that mimics or relies on SDK functionality would be a violation of this clause.
Development of competing software. Using the SDK to create software that directly competes with the original product or related tools is prohibited.
Sharing the license keys or license files with unauthorized users, organizations, or third parties. Sharing these files or keys with others, even unintentionally, would breach the terms of the license.
Modifying or reverse-engineering the SDK or its modules. The license prohibits any attempts to modify, decompile, or reverse-engineer the SDK or its modules. This means you can’t alter the SDK’s code, analyze its internal workings, or attempt to extract proprietary information.
Using the license in a way that violates the End-User License Agreement (EULA). The license must be used in a manner that fully complies with the terms outlined in the End-User License Agreement (EULA). Any use of the SDK that violates the EULA, such as unauthorized distribution, misuse, or failure to adhere to usage limitations, is prohibited.

Cost-Effective. By eliminating the need for additional licensing fees per deployment, the Developer OEM license can significantly reduce costs for developers who plan to distribute their software widely.
Simplified Licensing. Developers don’t need to manage multiple licenses or worry about licensing compliance for each deployment of their software, streamlining the distribution process.
Flexibility in Development. The ability to create an unlimited number of applications allows developers to experiment with and create various software solutions using Wordize SDK.
Expanded Market Reach. With no restrictions on deployment locations, developers can target a global market for their software solutions.
Yes, each Developer OEM license is assigned to one developer regardless of name changes or team rotations.
Yes, every developer directly contributing to the project requires their own Developer OEM license, regardless of work schedule.
Yes, all developers contributing to a project integrating Wordize SDK require individual licenses.
The license supports deployment across platforms, including Web, Desktop, and Mobile apps, and is compatible with Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android.

The Developer OEM license is perpetual. Thus, it never expires.

However, it is important to understand that a perpetual license comes with a time-limited subscription that provides access to Wordize SDK updates for a certain period of time. After your subscription expires, you can continue to use the SDK as before, but you will have to renew your subscription if you want to access the latest SDK updates.

For step-by-step instructions on how to purchase licenses, please review the ‘Purchase’ section of this FAQ.

Wordize Suite is a bundled offering that includes Developer OEM licenses for all modules at a discounted price. It provides maximum functionality of the Wordize SDK at a reduced cost compared to purchasing individual licenses for each module.

☝️ Note that Wordize Suite is not a separate license type but a cost-saving distribution option for all modules.

Technically, there is no difference between the Developer OEM licenses included in the Wordize Suite and those purchased individually. However, the bundled option offers a significant discount and provides access to all SDK features at once.
